Q&A with Erin Hamlin, Olympic Bronze Medalist and World Champion in the Luge

This week we are featuring Erin Hamlin, Olympian and World Champion in the sport of Luge! Erin was the first female American Luger to medal at ANY Winter Olympics and the first of either gender to medal in a singles. This happened in the most recent 2014 Olympics in Sochi. She grew up in a small town and went to public school, where there were only 65 kids in her graduating class. Erin was a multi-sport athlete in high school. The luge season happened right between her soccer and track seasons. She has been female athlete of the year for USA Luge a number of times. Interesting fact: They get up to around 80 miles per hour during a race! AMAZING! Erin is an inspiration and shows just what can happen when having support and encouragement to try something new…

Q&A with Elena Hight, Professional Snowboarder

This week as part of our Q&A with elite and professional female athletes, we are featuring Elena Hight, professional snowboarder! At 13 years old, Elena became the first female to land a 900 in competition. In 2013, she became the first snowboarder, male or female, to land a double backside alley-oop rodeo. (This happened at the Winter X Games in Aspen, Colorado – See the video below). She is already a two-time Olympian and four-time X Games medalist.
